Its Islamic history started in the Medieval period when Sufi missionaries arrived and introduced its people to the religion. After that several other Muslim empires reigned in the country. Muhammad Ali Jinnah founded Pakistan’s independence and today the country’s population generally consists of Muslims. Its Islamic concentration is estimated at 97% of its population. The religious minorities consist of Parsis, Buddhists, Bahais and Animists. This historic influence built the majority of Pakistan’s culture which is apparent by their official name being the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
