Pakistan’s official language is English. Although Urdu is their national language, English is used in business transactions, government affairs and legal contracts. The country has more than sixty languages and dialects; eighteen of them are widely recognized. Its rate of literacy is roughly half of its population. This obstacle is somehow challenged by winning a Nobel Prize courtesy of Abdus Salam’s share in the 1979 physics award. One of the things that hinder the growth of the country is its shaky government which appears to be a persistent struggle in the territory.
