Why PowerPoint Won't Replace Your Font

When you try to replace a font in PowerPoint, you'd expect the built-in Replace Fonts feature to swap it everywhere — but anyone who's relied on it knows it quietly fails. It only searches part of your file, so a font set on the Slide Master or in the Theme — or used inside a table — is left untouched, and it keeps reappearing in the dropdown no matter how many times you "replace" it. It also can't replace a double-byte font in PowerPoint — Japanese, Chinese, Korean and other East-Asian fonts live in a separate font slot the tool won't touch.

The workaround people share online — rename the .pptx to .zip, unzip it, and find-and-replace the font names in the XML — is worse: it also rewrites font names that happen to appear in your slide text, and can mangle the file so it opens as an uneditable image.

This PPTX font replacer does the same job correctly: it edits only real font references — across slides, layouts, the master, the Theme, and tables — and never touches your text. That means you can change all fonts in PowerPoint at once, including the ones the native feature leaves behind.

How to Use It

  1. Drop in your .pptx. It's opened right in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
  2. Review the font audit. Every font is listed with where it's used and how many times. Fonts marked ⚠ Hidden are the ones the built-in tool can't clear (master / Theme / tables).
  3. Choose replacements. Type a new font next to any font you want to change — one, or as many as you like.
  4. Replace & download. You get a fixed, still-editable .pptx. Your original is never changed.

Change All Fonts in PowerPoint — Everywhere the Native Tool Misses

This PPTX font replacer rewrites font references in slides, slide layouts, the Slide Master, notes slides, the notes and handout masters, the Theme font scheme, and tables. Because it targets the actual font attributes in the file — not the visible text — it's safe to run on any deck, and it catches the fonts PowerPoint's own tool leaves behind. Map one font or map several to a single brand font to change all fonts in PowerPoint in one download.

It's also the fastest way to replace a double-byte font in PowerPoint: East-Asian fonts are detected automatically and flagged in the audit, so you can swap them for a standard font in the same pass.

Fonts inside charts and SmartArt are shown in the audit so you know they're there, but aren't changed in this version.
